Eurovision International TV Company was formed as a direct result of an armed attack on David in Ukraine, June 2, 1998 – this attack was intended to stop David ever evangelising there again. By a miracle, in answer to strong prophetic intercessory prayer the day before, he was not shot as had been planned.

To maximise publicity after the attack, and hopefully see the return of his stolen vehicle and its contents, David called a press conference. Amazed by the positive response both in the press and on TV (the news was aired in Ukraine and in Russia), God gave David the vision that if the authorities wanted to stop him evangelising in auditoriums and stadiums, he could reach the whole nation through the media – every home has a TV set as part of the old Soviet propaganda system. The vision had begun!

So by faith David went into production at once, borrowing staff and equipment from the local TV station in Lvov, the very town where David had been attacked. The first evangelistic programme, ‘The Power of Faith’, was ready by the end of that same month, before he had even left the country! Pavel Gladkov, who for many years had been searching for a real experience with Christ, worked through the night on State TV equipment to edit the material shot on crusade, and experienced a powerful conversion as he saw for himself the miracles of a powerful living God. Pavel, who was an award-winning state news and political editor, now directs Eurovision TV Company in Kiev, Ukraine.

In the first 12 months of operating out of a tiny studio (only 57 square metres), Eurovision International TV Company produced 38 evangelistic programmes, covering 75% of the Ukraine with David’s weekly broadcast on regional terrestrial TV channels. Now it goes out to the whole nation on Saturdays on their National TV Channel: it shows what God is doing amongst their people, His power in their country, healing their sick by miracles. This is real crusade evangelism, a real demonstration of the power of God, touching real people, and the viewers respond to this.

In 2002, God gave David a new, more powerful vision to reach the whole of Russia. Realising that still less than 0.5% of the Russian population are baptised believers, he was discouraged. This was the challenge God gave: to go into as many cities as possible in Russia, to evangelise in sport-halls/stadiums – AND to buy air-time covering the entire region, to broadcast the whole evangelistic meeting live, reaching the entire region – between 1 and 5 million every time – via terrestrial TV – direct into every home – using the TV system set up by the communists – showing the praise and worship, the preaching, the call to repentance, and, in the last 10-12 minutes, healing miracles! People are saved and healed, not just in the stadium, but at home! In the first 14 months of launching this programme, we held 20 Live-TV crusades! David preached the Gospel to more people in one year than in the whole of his life previously!

Today the broadcasts are even more effective – in 2006 a free-phone call centre was introduced to enable the viewers to freely respond to the broadcasts – in the first nine months over 100,000 people had telephoned! During the 2007 Russian Christmas a special celebration was broadcast – 46,106 people responded by phone – with 95% repenting. In 2007 we signed a 12 month TV contract to broadcast the evangelism on Das Vierte (the equivalent of UK Channel 4) in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on secular TV. As a direct result of these programmes, CNBC Europe – one of the world’s largest business and news broadcasters – approved our Gospel programmes for broadcast. The programme is shown in three languages – English, Russian, and German. Following the 2008 evangelism in Estonia, we started broadcasting weekly on STV. Then in 2009, we began broadcasts on the Second National Channel in Armenia. These Armenian broadcasts are part of the preparation for 2010 Yerevan, Armenia evangelism.
