“I did not believe God would heal me. And I thought it was unfair when I saw other people getting healed. But I want to say sorry to God – because when I got home last night I realised He had healed me too!”
Acid burn in his eyes – “Now I can see clearly!”
Inflammation in her lymph nodes – “Swelling and pain have gone!”
Three to four thousand attended David’s crusade meetings every night in Kharkov, and every night up to a thousand or more repented. When David spoke of God as our loving father, many openly wept with emotion. Ukraine experienced much cruelty and suffering for 70 years under communism; Pastor Peter, who organised our meetings, told us that his grandfather was killed by the communists for his faith, leaving his grandmother without an income, and no support from the state, to bring up five children. One of these, his mother, accepted Christ aged 12 and was baptised by full immersion. A neighbour saw and reported that pastor to the secret police for baptising a minor; he served 14 years’ hard labour for this crime. The pain of the Ukraine people has not gone away with the new freedom and with the free market economy in these last 20 years. Yes, some businessmen/mafia became obscenely rich at the expense of the ordinary citizen. But according to official figures, the Ukrainian economy shrank by 20.3% in the first three months of the year, making the Ukraine one of the worst affected countries during this global economic crisis. There is massive unemployment amongst those of working age, and the pensioners cannot pay their rent and energy bills from their derisory pensions that they had saved up for all their lives. If you are sick you must pay for the hospital and the doctors, and you must buy your own medicine – there is no help or subsidy – and the people are too poor to buy health insurance! These people need Christ! As David called the crowds forward, Pastor Peter said, “I have not seen so many unbelievers come forward to repent in the last seven to ten years!”
God confirmed His Word with outstanding miracles of healing – as He always does. One woman was going blind, her sight was failing. She confessed, “I did not believe God would heal me. And I thought it was unfair when I saw other people getting healed. But I want to say sorry to God – because when I got home last night I realised He had healed me too!”
